The little monkey

Many of you that have played halo with me lately know that I have had to take frequent breaks to put the baby back in bed. Well, here is the culprit. This is my 19 month old. He is my first kid to escape from his crib. Granted the oldest was moved out of his crib at 15 months because we moved and his crib went into storage while we looked for a new place while living with my parents. My daughter cant even climb the mcdonalds playland at 3 1/2. So not much compitition. In the picture it looks like he is standing on his blanket, but really his foot is about 6 inches above it. And his sisters doll house is about 6 inches away from his crib too, so he isnt standing on it. Its all just his little monkey feet. I tried socks thinking that would make his little monkey feet slippery, but you can see how well that worked.
Shakes tells me I need to move him into the toddler bed. But I keep hoping he will get over his escaping ways and go back to being happily confined.
Im thinking either greasing the bars with some silicone lube, or duct taping his feet together. Maybe make him sleep in one of those annoying baby sleep sacks. Or *sigh* just admit my baby is growing up and move him to the big bed...
This kid is getting too big. Time for one of those fun little babies that dont move! (I much prefer newborns to toddlers)

He must have good upper body strength to pull himself up like that. I prefer 4 year olds. They're more useful. "Go get daddy a coke."

My third was a little monkee too. As soon as his legs could reach he would 'walk' up the door frame with his hands and bare feet like a little Spiderman. It is a little unnerving to see your kid at the top of the door frame holding himself up by equally distributing his weight between the two feet. I wish I had had a camara cause people don't believe me. I think the crib just encouraged him when he was a toddler. What was worse though was teddybear was getting into the Splinter Cell series a few years back so he got the idea to see how sneaky he could be hiding in the shadows. Luckily for him though he never tried to sneak up and grab me from behind as I tend to react before I think. Like the time teddybear ripped open the shower curtain on me while I was holding a full bottle of shampoo. It was strange because my mind registered that it was him but I couldn't stop myself and he ended up with a knot on his head, heeheehee!!

I escaped my crib too. Back in the day they were screwed together with wingnuts and i'd just unscrew them. Crib fell apart and i was free ! Jailbreak!

I was a frequent escapee, too. I could climb out, but never was able to climb back in - so I was always found out eventually. My wife prefers just the opposite to you - she doesn't like newborns nearly as much as toddlers.

My sister was a bit of a "Houdini" as well. She used to get out of her crib in the middle of the night and then go into my parents bedroom to berate them with cries of "Juice! Juice!". Dad says that he actually turned the doorknob of her room around so he could lock her in! In the morning when they came to get her she would be laying up against the door, sound asleep. She always was a hard-headed little booger, and in a lot of ways she still is.

oh, he is out of our room, and has been since he was 3 months old. Yeah, I cant sleep when my kids are in the room with me. Even when they are sick and scared, I climb in bed with them, not the other way around lol.
