One of my favorite blogs, free range parenting, has pointed out numerous times (1,2,3,4...) how something as simple as walking/biking to school has become more rare, and how in some instances it has actually become a crime!
Anyway, In a world that it has become more rare, they have actually scheduled a "National Walk or Bike to School Day!" for tomorrow.
I highly recommend we all join in and work together for healthier kids, cleaner Air, and safer schools*
And if you feel really passionate, join the "Dear Congress Campaign" for making more safe routes to our children's schools.

*more kids are actually injured each year by "at school traffic" (the cars dropping kids off) than kids injured just walking to school.

In the winter (and yes, I know its not winter) I have no idea how Erica is going to walk down the street much less to school. Snow removal doesn't happen too often and snowbanks narrow the road so much that cars can barely get through: much less people. Something to think about though!

Our K thru 2 classes all have designated meeting spots for tomorrow. The kids will all meet their teachers at those spots and walk to school together as a class. I'm a 4 year veteran of the "drop your kid off" program. It is complete mayhem, especially if the weather is bad.
