Shared on Tue, 11/27/2007 - 18:31My car battery decided to randomly crap out on me today at the store. No, I didnt leave the lights on or anything silly like that. I had been driving around for 30 min, went in to Old Navy for ten minutes, then came back out to the car and it wouldn't start. It has done this once before when I left the radio on while cleaning out the car. Makes clicky noises instead of the typical dead car sound, so I called Toyota and told the guy and he said thats the sound the car makes when the battery is low. The battery is original to the car (2002) So it might be that the battery is dying.(hence the dead battery with out the rundown)
Normally this wouldn't phase me, I might swear a little, but that is all. Heaven knows Ive jumped others and had my own car jumped MANY times. My little old Honda loved to run out of battery. It was kind of par for course for a while.
Today this required a phone call to Shakes with me crying. Apparently all my ability to think and make decisions has dissapeared. He was my knight in shining armor and took over. I took the kids into the mall while he made some phone calls. He called me back and let me know that someone would meet me at the car in ten minutes.
We walked back out to the car and sure enough Mr Man shows up just a few minutes later. He had a jump box and got the car started no problem. He didn't charge me anything either. Apparently he is good friends with one of Shakes' friends at work. Shakes mentioned to his friend that I was stuck, and she called Mr Man, who dropped everything and came and helped me.
I get teary eyed just thinking about it. (yes, Im pregnant and hormonal. Shut up) How awesome is it that there are still people out there that would go out of their way to help a complete stranger. Im sure he had much better things to do then drive over and jump my silly car. But his ten minutes completely changed my day. How awesome that Shari (Shakes' friend) would even think to call him.
So at the moment Im humbled by the nice people in the world. Heaven knows Ive been bitchy lately and probably don't deserve it. I hope that their good Karma catches up with them. I also hope I can take their example and run with it.
Three cheers for nice people!
