Project of the day....

Unfortunatelty a leaking washing machine kept me out of the shop for most of the day, but I did manage to get one project done. This is a bottle stopper I turned out of Olivewood. I'm especially happy with how the finish on this one turned out. I never thought that wet-sanding bare wood would make as big of a difference as it did.

Thanks for looking!

Wow! Nice! I believe that the water helps raise the grain so when you sand it, it is a cleaner surface. What did you finish it with, a polyurethane, varnish, or something else?

Beautiful work, LB! (IMO, it needs a narrow v-groove near the transition from the cove.)

that is fucking awesome man. The wood looks great and the clear coat finish has that awesome wet look? So if someone wanted one of these from you, how much would it cost?

@DavidLee: I agree and picked up a couple of detail gouges at Woodcraft today for just that purpose. @LB: I'll pm you and we can talk :-) Thanks for the kind comments everyone!
