Small progress....

I spent last night doing a tweak to the setup of the shop to make things flow better, so not a very big update this time around. I plan on hitting it hard tomorrow and should have a big update on Sunday....

I had hoped to have a pen to show you this time around, but it turns out that the blank I had set aside for it wasn't big enough. This first pic shows what happens when the drill bit is too big for the blank you're using   KABOOM!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the only project I completed tonight. It's a toothpick holder made out of an unknown (to me) wood. I experimented with the finish on this one and tried a Krazy Glue finish. My finishing skills need a lot of practice, but I figure that will come in time.

FYI, when you apply Krazy Glue to a piece of wood spinning at 1300 RPM, it get REALLY fucking hot. Burned the shit out of my finger and melted the surgical glove I was wearing.

How does the glue get hot? Are you applying it with a brush or what?

It looks a little like Honduran Rosewood, but it's really hard to tell from here. Use a paper towel to finish with CA. Be careful not to glue your eye shut. I like the flat coves. Nice work.

Nice work! Can't you turn down the RPM when putting on the CA? It's probably the friction causing the heat. And as DavidLee says, protect your eyes! btw-when cutting your blanks, make sure to use a very good, very sharp drill bit. You should have less problems with splintering the blank.
