Shared on Tue, 07/25/2006 - 08:54GOOD MATCH FAITHLESS PROPHETS!!! And thanks for being good sports, esply with the host problems. I'm sorry we couldn't get a good host from the start and I'm glad that we worked together to resolve the issue.
With the current Ladder Season coming to an early close, last nights match versus Faithless Prophets gave us one last chance to break the losing streak that has plauged us since the begining of Season when we got pounded by Alpha. We haven't even won a game inside a match until last night, but now we finaly have a 4v4 MLG type victory under our belt. The proverbial cherry has been popped...
Vexire Fortes would like to thank the following teams for their help and teachings over the past couple of months:
4sk/FbK for all the scrims, the motivation, the strats, and the inside scoop.
Profanity for the scrims, helping us get ready for our match vs Alpha, set-ups and strats, and showing us how to Suck It.
2o2p Alpha for the lessons even though they cost us $$$ the stuff you taught us still rings in our minds and shines through in our playing, for the first ass-pounding of the ladder, and for sticking around after your win to tell us how we could improve.
All VF members and friends that helped and put up with us practicing against you.
I would like to personally thank the following people for their help, support, posting in our forums, and inspiration/motivation

On to the write up...
It turned out to be a very well matched match. Faithless Prophets were the first team to be at par with our skill level. We acctually could have left the KY at home, but we brought it anyway just in case...

Game One, KotH Sanctuary: "Goddamnit, its in the center again"
For the first time in KotH Sanc we were able to control the Center 2 Ring for the majority of the time. That turned out to be huge and gave us an early advantage, although we had to earn that hill with a lot of bodies. Hill control flipped-flopped through out the game, but I can't relate to many hill stories because my focus was on the inbound opponents. This much I do know, we had about 4:10 on the score with the Prophets not far behind when the hill moved, and it moved to Center 2. Man there was a ton of action in that ring for the last minute of the game. I think it was because we were able to get twobodies in there right away and establish some light suppressive fire that gave us the footing to pull ahead. We lost it [hill] a couple of times, and that got the adrenaline flowing... What a rush that game was!
Game Two, TB Midship: "He's down, FUCK!!! I found the other thre *Uht*"
Uhh, Bungie? I think we are out of bullets...
Holy crap this game was a frag fest! It was fast, it was painful, and it was confusing. 5 second respawn, but we're not bitching because they had to deal with the same thing that we had to.... And that was the rest of the opposing team coming around the corner soon as you killed one off, picked up the ball, threw a grenade, reloaded your rifle, scrached your nose, called out a location, farted crooked, and I could go on... It was insane, and there was too much going on to remember anything more than a few details; I tried to get up to Pink 3 a couple of times only to get reamed by half the Blue Team, I had my best run/only spree on the Midship floater picking them off in Blue Base, and I always spawned in the base farthest from the action. Man our asses hurt after that game....
Game Three, Slayer Beaver Creek: "Finaly a well paced game"
I say 'well paced game' because playing the KotH and TB games was like having waves and waves of opponents thrown at us. This game was not as crazy and there was acctual down time (for me at least) when holding our positions. We spawned Red side and I managed to get rockets after dieing once. After I spent the launcher and died again we had a loose hold on Blue side. Soon enough we were all in our positions and I was managing sniper rifle and the over sheild. We were a machine of efficiency. We held the sinper, over shield, rockets, and blue base for the first 2/3 of the game. From that we gained a comfortable lead and managed to stay out of trouble for our short stint in Red Base.
Thank you Faithless Prophets! I hope we can get together again to play!
See you all in August when doodi fixes up the ladders again!
