Shared on Sun, 05/17/2009 - 16:00Saturday afternoon my wife and I drove down to Atlanta to visit the JollyRoger family. The whole family was there. So we talked with Jolly and Stacey and played with Jimmy, Ian and Megan. I hadn't seen the kids in over a year. Wow!! Growing up fast. Megan and I played the game "take your nose". Jimmy put on a doctor's jacket and was listening to everyone's heart with a stethoscope. Ian was showing off everyone how he could walk.
Ian faces a tough road. His muscle tone is very weak. He is in therapy 6-7 hours a day during the week and around 4 hours on the weekend. He is having to learn how to walk, move, write, pick up things, etc. He is even having to be potty trained again. While we were there he smiled the whole time and never complained about anything (well, other than his brother and sister bugging him at times).
The kids were getting rowdy so my wife took Megan and Jimmy down to the play room. She played with them for a while and then came back and we took Ian down to the play room. He played some checkers, which is good therapy by working on his fine motor skills.
We played for a while until it was tme for us to go. Right before we left, Ian came up to my wife and thanked her for the Spiderman gifts. He was so sweet.
The family faces a tough road. Having one medically fragile child is bad, but now it seems they have two. They are supposed to be going on a family trip to Florida. Hopefully, Ian will be out of the hospital in time for them to leave.
I showed Stacey the comments from Soup's and Dastard's blog and she read them and says thank-you.
Please keep them in your prayers.
