Disney is going to own Marvel!?!?!

While I don't think we are in for The Hulk Versus Donald Duck, I think this is a sad day for comic fans.  Disney would be foolish to try to reinvent what Marvel has done, but I worry much of the creativity will be replaced with movie plot think tanks that will make every Marvel movie feel like National Treasure-style crap.

What does everyone else think?

Disney Exec: "We don't really think the continuing allegory of moving beyond racial and sexual intolerance is family friendly. And we want more boobs." Sad day.

My immediate thinking is that disney is a kids, family, fun company and that doesn't mix well with the likes of Punisher, Wolverine, Deadpool and others. So i'm a bit concerned that we're going to see the end of marvel and the death of some long standing characters.

I've had this discussion with hubby for hours on end - and unfortunately we won't know more until time passes. I think everyone upon hearing this thought the same thing, "Oh, sh*t! A watered down cartoon of our favorites, minus the violence while adding a touch of "It's a Small World" additives." I really hope not. Hopefully Disney will be smart and let the creative department do what they do best - and the money and connections Disney has can only help in creating more comics and cartoons. I've heard Disney and Pixar are already giddy about the possibilities - which I must say could make some awesome Hulk or Spiderman fliks. I'm not giving them a free pass, but I'm gonna hold judgement until I see where they go with this...

People forget that the Disney company (who is the one who is buying Marvel) owns several production companies who put out M and R (18-A) movies. The family Disney brand is just a division.
