Something so simple, yet so cute…

The other day, I was trying like heck to get some major organizing done and the little ones were following me from room to room.  “Mom, can I…..”, “Mommy….”, “Hey, Mom watch this….”, “I can help Mom, look…” basically driving me nuts.  So finally I said we’re going to put to put some cartoons on for about an hour so I can finish my work in peace.  As I am flipping through the channels trying to find something my little girl shouts “Hey, let’s watch Max and Ruby!”.  Fine, whatever makes you happy.  I don’t even know what this cartoon is, but it seems to have the two little ones entranced.  Great.  Go back to working. Five, ten, fifteen minutes go by without a single peep.  Hey, guess I should have thought of this sooner.  Approximately forty minutes later my little guy comes running to me “Mommy, where Mac and Booby?”  Complete silence.  Did he just say “booby”?  Me, rolling on the floor laughing….son frowning at me stomps his foot and says for the second time, with a bit more attitude, “WHERE MAC & BOOBY?!”

Kids say the darndest things!  What kind of things have your little ones said that had you rolling?

Nice one Spidey....my son thinks "kitty cats" are "tigers" and is forever roaring at his sister chasing her around and trying to scare. Kids, gotta love 'em.

For the record, my little girl used to love that show but it drove me crazy. Ok, maybe I am weird but a lot of times when Katie is watching a show at night to wind down, I will sit down beside her and watch it with her. Most of her shows I can tolerate but sorry madwoman, that one wasn't one of them. Ruby is way too forgiving. As far as kids saying the darnedest thing, Katie comes up with something everyday it seems like. Instead of saying "yesterday" or "the other day" she says "last day". I am constantly laughing at the things she comes up with, I will have to write some of them down so I don't forget them.

I actually have kept a journal of some of my kids funnier moments and sayings...sometimes I incorporate them into their scrapbooks. Good stuff. Always fun to look back and read some of things Abbi used to say and do.

So we are driving to the store and we pass a barn. Katie says "Hey mommy and daddy, I just saw a barn". We were like "Good Katie, what lives in a barn" She said, "Chickens, Turkeys and Hams". We busted out laughing. I guess we call Chicken and Turkey by its name so it only makes since that when we eat a Ham sandwich that it comes from a Ham.

My favorite pearl of wisdom quote is from my daughter when she was only 3 years old. Leaving a store together I started making funny noises and comments to try and make her giggle. When i realized it wasn't working I said, "oh forget it, Daddy isn't making any sense is he." At which point she stated in a very mater of fact, adult way..."well you cant make any sense if you dont have any! " What a smack down, daddy was down for the count.  As for shows, we stick to noggin. Sometimes some DVD backyardigans or Barbie Fairytopia type stuff after tub and before bed for 15 min :-) - BAT
