So we went to see Spiderman 3 Saturday.  I wonder how many of you out there have seen this one yet.  I have to say I was disappointed.  Not as dissappointed as my hubby, but nonetheless I was expecting better.  I guess I should have known by now, when consecutive movies are made they are never as good as the first.  Maybe that is just me, maybe I had my hopes to high, maybe I am getting to old to appreciate movies (gasp!),  maybe when I pay $25.00 to go to the movie I expect it to be awesome!  We hardly ever go to the movies unless we think it will be a great movie...its just too expensive.  We go to the $1.50 movie near us or simply wait for it to come out on DVD.  I thought there was way too much crying in the movie!  It felt like they tried to develop too many bad guys in a short time, felt a little rushed.  The cinematics where great, the action scenes where good, but what the heck was wrong with Peter Parker when he was dancing around acting crazy with the black suit???  He should have been down right mean...not silly.  Oh, well, it was a wonderful "date" for hubby and I anyways.

Did anyone else feel cheated?

Yes, I felt a little cheated. My wife liked the movie, but other than the special effects I found it rather banal.

It was without a doubt the worst of the three. A total train wreck. Your observations above as to what made it reek are right on, i agree completely. Im not in agreement with the consecutive move theory however. Personally i think Spider Man 2 was the best of the three. I have always liked The Empire Strikes back the best, Rocky 2 was very good and supposedly this last rocky was good, though i haven't seen it. Last years mission Impossible 3 was excellent and my favorite of the three. So I think it can be done, but i would agree that when it comes to the Super Hero Comic book movies it does seem that they always kill it by the third one. Xmen three was a train wreck, as was Batman Forever, and Batman and Robin. Superman 3-5 were horrible ( lets not even discuss the turd that was last summers Superman returns AAAAAARRRGGHH! ) Any way great bolg :-) - BAT

Batmankm, I guess I hadn't thought about the older movies with sequels..Yes Rocky 2 was the best, and The Empire Strikes back was the best of that group..so it can be done, oh and the last Rocky is very good...still not the best...something about seeing an older Rocky struggling through life..struggling with his family life, friends...physically..you don't like to see your hereoes get older, guess it makes them too much like us. OldManRiver48, I know what you are saying..we don't pay the big bucks for the movies all that ofter...we like the $1 movies too (and yes it is more economical to take our two little ones with us), course we don't pick movies for us but more for them or the whole family..buy my son loves it. The minute you say movie the first word out of his mouth is "popcorn mommy please??" (he is only two).

I thought it was ok. Not the best of the 3 movies but it was ok. Sandman was awesome, they nailed that character in casting and effects spot on. Venom sucked, sucked, sucked. Then there was too much else going on with the love triangle, harry. They just tried to take on too much and ended up half delivering on everything.

what sucks in my area is that the $150 theater just shut down since our regular theaters went digital. They can no longer get the films to show! We got the TV, now I am saving the money we don't spend on movies for the surround system.

Bertt, that does suck! Hope that doesn't happen anytime soon around here!

I am a huge Spider-Man fan and I like 1 and 2 pretty well but 3 was a disaster. The chemistry between Peter and Mary Jane was non-existent. It was a lot better in 1 and 2. Harry's character wasn't developed well, nor the Sandman, nor Venom. Too much going on, too much CGI and not enough Gwen Stacey. They have also hacked up the story so much its not even funny not to mention having things that in the comics took years, take only a couple of days. Oh well, the comics still rock (at least the old ones) and I will still love Spider-Man (just not Spider-Man 3).
