Shared on Wed, 12/31/2008 - 13:29I have lots of HD Remix news for you today. First off is a review from Game Trailers. I think its a bit harsh and for a Live Arcade download, kind of knit-picky but oh well.
HERE is another review from IGN thats a bit more to my liking. I've played the game online for over 200 matches now and I LOVE IT!!! I was excited about the game before it came out but playing it so much has got me filled with fighting game madness. I can't wait for SF IV to come out as well as KOF 12 and BlazBlue. I'm back full swing into fighting games again. GOW2, Halo 3 and GH: World Tour are getting no love right now.
More news...This is taken from Capcom Unity Blog
It is with great pleasure to announce that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has sold over 250,000 units year to date. HD Remix has shattered both day one and week one sales records and will most likely break 30 day sales records as well. It's on its way to becoming the highest grossing digital title ever.
It would be idiotic and quite frankly, irresponsible to attribute the success of this game to just one person. That's like saying Boxer has better kicks than Chun-Li, it just ain't true. We'd like to thank everyone who poured their heart and soul to reviving one of gaming's most beloved franchises. From the producer, Rey Jimenez, to the folks from Backbone and Udon, to the product development, business development and marketing teams at Capcom, HD Remix was a labor of love for everyone involved.
Last but not least, I want to give a big shout out to the hard core Street Fighter community (yes you Shoryuken, Unity, and Key Stoners) who kept this game relevant for the past 15 years and spread the word to the entire gaming industry that Street Fighter is still the "best around"!
If you've played HD Remix you know that the soundtrack was "remixed" for the game. OCRemix is a fan-based community that makes a ton of music using old school video game soundtracks. (Check out some of the Mega Man 2 stuff. BEST video game soundtrack EVER!) HERE is a great interview with some of the guys from OCRemix about the music of SSF2THDR. And if you haven't already you can download the entire soundtrack for free HERE.
The last thing I want to share is that I finally got my HD Remix Press kit in the mail yesterday. Its so sweet. Here are a few pics and details of whats included in the kit. I think Capcom rivals Bungie on their fan support. Capcom also did a kit like this for Mega Man 9 and it was so perfect for the fans. Thanks Capcom!!
