Shared on Wed, 04/09/2008 - 09:32Due to a number of circumstances, including COD4, I haven't played halo 3 since the end of January. Last night I saw it on the shelf and decided to spend the night playing that instead of COD. I used to think this game was the shizzle, now I'm unsure.
The first thing I noticed is how quiet it is. Playing lone wolves or team deathmatch is deathly quiet. Part of that is because no one has a mic, but the game itself is silent. I never thought about it, but all the air strikes, UAV, Choppers and automated talk (reloading, grenade out!) really add another dimension to the COD and make you feel more immersed in it.
I also found that the fastest way for me to die was to try to melee someone. I would put an entire clip into someone and then melee...I died everytime. It should be called suicide NOT melee. There were even a few times where I meleed someone in the back and they turned around and meleed me to the face and I died. I'm a little confused about that one.
It's also a little frustrating to put the entire clip of the AR into someone as they run at you not shooting and then melee you in the face and kill you. I miss shooting at people and them dying, what happened to that? I tried to be more conservative and pick people off as they fought each other but the rubber bullets take FOREVER.
No, Bungie, I don't want to play construct or epitaph for the 30th time. Oh, there's no way out of the lobby once the map is chosen? Nice. Well, sure I'll spend the entire game on construct getting raped by people camping every way up.
I will say this though: The spawn system is infinately better in Halo than it is in COD. In COD you spawn under airstrikes and infront of the enemy shooting at someone else or on top of grenades. There are times in COD where you will die 4 times before you can get out of a spawn, which is gay as hell considering the size of most of the levels.
Halo is a very pretty game, even the lobby is nice to look at. Forge and theatre are awesome, and I love driving things and Sticky grenades make me smile. I may try to play it more simply because I don't like to suck at things, but right now it is damn frustrating. If its going to take 100000 bullets to kill someone, then for the love of god make the gun magazines bigger!
EDIT: After COD halo seems SLOOOOOOOW. why does it take so long to get places?
