A year ago I moved to this area and quickly found my current job. It has some aspects of the advertising/project management field that I would ultimately like to find myself back in so it hasn’t been a total write off. It was supposed to be just a hold over job while I found something better but I found myself ethically tied to finish projects that I had begun.
A terrible job will often provide the motivation to pursue the greater oportunity Unfortunately having a just mediocre job often keeps you from finding a great job. It has slowed me down and prevented me from networking as much as I should.
Today I looked through my contacts and found people that are in positions of authority and with whom I have a good relationship. I also looked for people who knew the people that I need to know. I dusted off the resume, freshened it up added some polish and power words and shot it off.
I know that this is rarely a quick transition so I’m bracing myself for the closed doors and cold calls. Ultimately though I hope to enjoy heading in to work again and feeling excited about what I do. Let’s see how it goes.
See that little hand with the thumbs up? Click it, see what happens.
