I have a pretty fast metabolism so 3 buffet meals a day at school helped out a ton. By my senior year I was about 200 and benching 360lbs. I could bang out sets of 10-15 pull ups with a 45 around my waist. I was running 5 miles every other day and swimming a mile the days in between. I know that sounds like a load of crap and if you choose not to believe it – fine.
I ended up messing up my rotator cuff playing a pick up game of water polo and had to take some time off. Then I graduated, then I got a job, then I got married, then I moved, then I got another job, then I moved, then I got another job….. basically I’ve been on a 5 year hiatus.
It hasn’t been terrible, I could always fall back on the past glory like I jut did a few paragraphs ago. As long as I didn’t work out I wouldn’t know how much I’d lost. One of those “older I get, better I was” scenarios.
Two months or so ago I got back into the gym. Talk about depressing! I’m down to about 175lbs, so I should have assumed that I may have lost some muscle, but seriously, when did the bar get so heavy? Did they start making the 20 pound dumbbells heavier while I was away?
Not only does my body hurt every day, but it’s going to be a long, long, long haul to get back anywhere close to where I want to be. Has anyone else used the excuse “ I used to be in shape so when I start up again I get it all back quickly blah blah blah?”
I’m sure that just getting COD4 will help me budget my time wisely, did I tell you I went up another 5 or so ranks last night!!! What’s my bench press up to? Um, I dunno
