Rogue Galaxy.

Rogue Galaxy...

Rogue Galaxy...

Rogue...Galaxy ::sighs::

My new current game obsession as of this very moment is RPG Rogue Galaxy for PS2. Yeah, I said PS2 and yes even on this system in the wake of newer systems this game is *damn* sexy and appears capable of going head to head with others of this genre. Thus far, it's got all the right moves to completely engage me in that way games can do that and be.... sexy. I think some games, really great games can be very arousing to the senses and...um.. oh crap this is sounding..::blush::

Look, it's not just me that thinks like this?!! Right? Right?! ::sighs:: Whatever...

Anyway, I'll type it again so I can say it -- Rogue Galaxy. Mmmm...just the way it falls from my lips... Thus far, my first impression (which I qualify btw as my thoughts about my gameplay experience for my first 15 minutes of actual play) is that I'm already completely engaged with game, already feeling a bit upset to have put it down to write this. My first thoughts about it are, "Wow. This is totally going to mess up my delicate gaming/life/sleeping balance, isn't it? Dammit. I was doing so well..."

Thematically - a Sci-fi/fantasy mix all good. Load times? :;snorts derisively:: We don't need no stink'in load times!! Voice acting? Good to very good (so far). Game options that are reasonable for customization to make game play even more fun. Fun fight system it is an RPG but handles more like an action/adventure so that for each use of your weapon a button corresponds. I'm having so much fun, even the random battles are anticipated rather than tolerated (for me random battles...I love them sometimes, hate them others...depends on game and execution largely.) The storyline appears to have some sort of thought/depth and complexity. Perhaps sophistication... too early to tell so we'll see. Graphically - comic sexiness with realistic movement a sort of blending of fantasy and reality that so far is working just fine for me.

And there promises to be airships. Space-faring airships at that... Which should mean world explorations...kick ass!

::pants out of breath excitedly for a few moments then gets a grip:: :D

On this site, I actually have a healthy list of games I've marked as "I'm currently playing," mostly because I'm new here and though some of those games listed I've recently completed, I wanted to share where some of my gaming interests lie. (Truthfully, I've got a myriad of interests and that list still is woefully short for showing them.) The games I am actively playing as of this moment are:

  • Rogue Galaxy - PS2
  • Final Fantasy III - Nintendo DS
  • Lost in Blue 2 - Nintendo DS
  • Guitar Hero 1 & 2 - PS2
  • Disgaea 1/Okami - PS2 (these games are ongoing for me I pick them up and put 'em down...)

There are other games I'm playing that I push to the back burner to help make sure I stay on track with my real life responsiblities and such (Final Fantasy XI or XII, anyone?) But those above are the ones I can be found playing at any time right now.

Ok enough back to...(wait for it...)...Rogue Galaxy. You just knew I was going to type it again, didn't you?

Anyone else feeling..er strongly about this game? Or do you have good reason(s) to loathe it?

Hey CrypticCat! I like racers a lot but I'm not as skilled with them as I'd like to be...however I am apparently terribly amusing to watch :D. I was a definite fan of Phantasy Star on the Genesis though never got into the online gamingverse. I've heard those who do are very loyal to it which speaks volumes for the community if not the play itself. I still think highly of the world. When I was younger, I really loved shooters, FPS and Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat type games along with the adventure types though I thinnk of myself as a gaming omnivore at heat - ifit's fun for me I'll play it. I'm realizing as time went by RPGS and strategies just have called to me more. Odd sort of progression but fun. :) I'm sure I'm not done yet either.

Hi Poltegice! It really could just be me. :D I like to be happy and sometimes a bit giddy along with it. I tend to become both when a game that is just the right type, with the right elements, at the right moment becomes part of my scene. ....Or perhaps you may just want to try to expand your gaming menu? May I suggest...Rogue Galaxy as an appetizer? ;)

I used to be an RPG-hound myself, but I've found that my interest shifted over the years leaning ever more towards racers. I still play Phantasy Star Universe though, even paying for the monthly fee, but not as feverishly as I used to do. Still, cleaning De Ragan's clock every now and then is very satisfying.

How come games never do that to me??? :( Maybe I'm just not playing the right ones...
