I think it was about 5 or 6 years ago to the best of my recollection. This happened this morning and my wife's order was completely wrong, but in typical fashion the lady sat the food down and instantly disappeared. Someone else almost always brings your food to you, unless we are talking the waffle house as to which comedian Jim Gaffigan compared to a men's room that serves pancakes.
I don't know why I find this annoying, it's not really an issue if the order is right. However, when it's not you would hope that your waitress notices before giving you the food or at least you can inform them right away. Don't get me wrong I know that it is a tough job, I worked food service for 7 years in a previous life. My family goes out to breakfast every couple of weeks at the same restaurant, we actually have a regular waitress. She does a fine job and maybe that's why I am annoyed when we are somewhere else and the level of service is sub par.
My wife is very hard on the wait staff so I try to be a generous tipper I almost never leave less than 20%. She tends to ask for something and then when she gets it she remembers something else. This however is not just when we go out to eat she does the same things to me at home (except I don't get a good tip in return). I do think if my wife had seen the movie Waiting she wouldn't complain as much.
Oh and if you happen to be a waiter or a waitress and I pay the bill in cash, do not ask me if I need change. If I am going to have you keep the change I will tell you, or you can say that you will be right back with the change and I can tell you never mind. I find this to be very tacky and reminds me of an incident that happened several years ago. We were at a restaurant and the total bill was around $40 - $50. I handed the waitress a $100 and she asked if I needed change, without missing a beat I said your damned right I do.
Just curious to see what some other members thoughts are, if you read this please comment. Good or bad, it won't bother me. Thanks
