Family Man

So I had my first family Christmas.  Yes I have had family Christmas before, but never as a dad.  My bro was kind enough to snap a shot of my new family.

My new family

It is bizarre being a family.  Before I used to go to bed at 1am and be at work at 10am.  Now I can't stay awake past 10:30pm.  Our new child Andrei is doing great, but it will probably be a few months before he really understands he is truely an American and is truely part of our family.  Note the moonenites hat from ATHF that my wife had made for me?  Cool.

Some observations from our Adoption Trip...

Moscow is an entire city made from concrete blocks.  All plumbing and wireing is on the inside of the walls
you get 25 rubbles per American dollar
All coffee is instant, even at expensive places
Starbucks coffee is $10 for a mocha
Russian people are really friendly and nice
World Politics stink...passports and borders seem stupid
everyone should learn to speak english
Russians are prideful of their country, but are envious of our Country's success
Young people in Russia like America a lot
Seeing Kids under 10 years old living in the streets is terrible
Our Kid has only been home 1 week and is starting to say english words, even tho he has refused to learn our language with us
We had to charge $4500 in plane tickets to get home because we got stranded in Moscow airport and no one would help us get home...thus killing my hope of ever buying an hdtv
we probably spent close to $43,000 on this adoption

...it was all worth it.....

I LOVE AMERICA!

Congrats on your adoption. My only comment is that most European countries and the slavic countries do speak English. It just depends on whether they want you to know that bit of info or not. I lived in germany for 5 years and unless your over the age of 75 you know how to speak English as it is taught in all schools. This goes for about 99% of the other countries I visited while living abroad. Just my .02 Good blog tho.

Congrats on the adoption :) Merry Christmas About the English speaking though...if you are going to visit another country, don't expect them to know your language, learn theirs.
