So it has been a month since I actually posted anything.  It has been because I have not had much chance to play games recently.

The biggest news is we are in the final stages of adoption.  We are adopting a 6 year old Russian boy.  My wife has been the sort of historian of the whole event on her blog at http://tracy.homerlane.com/labels/Adoption.html

It's pretty scary.  Being a father for the first time.  Traveling to Russia sounds awesome and scary all at the same time as well.  We are totally stretching ourselves financially to make it happen.  We have little to no money for anything else.  We will probably even end up with a 5k balance on our credit cards when this event is done.  I have to make sure that we spend wisely and carefully.  Providing no one loses their jobs we should be ok.  I am hoping we are totally out of debt from it in less then 5 years.

The whole adaption will cost around $43,000 if we calculated correctly.  Seems pretty crazy.  We talked briefly about other methods for having children, but with so many kids in the world needing family, we felt that for us, adoption was the way.

We need everyones wishes and prayers.  Today the agency is talking to the judge.  They are hoping to tell us when our court date is by lunch this Tuesday.  It's crazy, we may only get 10 days notice.  We started packing and getting stuff together already.

So that doesn't leave much time for games.  We do have a 12 hour plane ride, probably closer to 18-20 hours with all the stops and stuff to get to Moscow.  We then have to get a physical by a Russian doctor ($1200...I wonder if I submit that to my insurance if I could trick them into paying it :) ) and the next day we have to get on a train to go to the orphanage.  That train ride is another 12 hours.  WOW!

Anyway, my wife will find out my plans when she reads this, but I am buying a 2nd battery for my psp and an rpg for the trip. :)  Anyone have any suggestions?  I am thinking of getting the new 40k squad game, or Final Fantasy Tactics, or Brave Story.

I just want something epic and fun.  I am also going to be bringing some books.  Even with 2 batteries, the psp isn't going to make it all the way.  I was thinking of reading a trilogy I bought at a goodwill called A Game of Thrones or something like that.  We shall see.  I have a feeling, after we get our boy, I won't have much time for entertainment tho.  6 year old boys are crazy-hyper-wild!

6 year olds also would be fascinated by a PSP game. In fact it may be a great way to break the ice!
