Affliction: Banned

I'm confused as hell. I have been seeing all the ads for this mixed-martial-arts 'Affliction: Banned' event coming up and, based on the roster of UFC and Pride fighters, I assumed it was a UFC fight just with a gay name. I actually thought it was some anti-affliction clothing deal. But now it appears that affliction clothing has made their own MMA organization and that's what this is, WTF? Pride gets disbanded and now these MMA deals are popping up all over the place. Just what the fuck exactly is going on here? I know there are dudes on this site who can explain it to me, and I'd really appreciate some help here. And what's with the :Banned on the name? Just some sort of inside joke? Genius I say.

Banned was the title of the card for that night. Like when you see UFC 69: Rampage or whatever its name was. A lot of this goes along with that anal douche king Dana White pushing UFC to crush everything else. I know that White has done a lot to put his brand in its top spot. However, he kind of helped make Affliction go into MMA after stopping his fighters from wearing that brand of clothing.

Ah, so is that the joke? They named it banned because it was banned from the UFC? That's the kind of inside joke I was expecting.
