Apparently my old phone, which was able to send and receive both phone calls and text messages quite efficiently, was just not cool enough. So she knows someone who re-sells these things and I now have a Palm Treo phone with 10 jillion buttons and a screen you can touch with a stylus (which apparently, the previous owner lost).
So this guy's number is somehow impregnated in the phone as the voicemail number. I tried setting the speed dial to myself, I tried changing settings, all kinds of crap. The end result is on Saturday, I dialed his number by mistake. He answered, I said 'oops wrong number'. Then while fiddling with it I proceeded to dial his number by mistake another 8 or 9 times. Finally I was at the Suns game, fiddling with it, and he called. I ignored the first one, then he called right back again. I couldn't hear him but I yelled into the phone 'sorry, i'm setting up my voicemail and it keeps dialing you by mistake. I'll stop messing with it now'. I could not hear his response but he hung up.
Right then, the voicemail he had left the first time popped up. I touched the screen and it dialed his number again. OOPS! At that point I shut the phone off.
The reason I feel so bad is I know if it was me, I'd be PISSED. When I finally got to the point I could retrieve my voicemail I thought it would be an angry message but the guy was really calm, someone keeps dialing my number, please either leave a message or stop calling. It made me feel even worse, at least if the guy was screaming I'd be like, hey he's an ahole anyway. But no...he had to be polite.
Anyway, it's a very cool phone. But I am afraid to touch it at this point. Hopefully Alltel can tell me how to fix the damn thing although they've been ineffective to this point.
