I also have a fairly good memory--not photographic by any means, but I can remember some really weird and precise shit. As a result, I have most of the music from 'Music Man' committed to memory. My senior year I played clarinet, bass clarinet and saxophone in the pit for that musical. I don't remember how many rehearsals and shows we had but it was enough to sear pretty much every lyric in the show into my head.
So from time to time tunes jump into my head. The other day Rabbmaster posted about the football player from the University of Iowa and for most of the day I kept hearing 'You really ought to give Iowa, Hawkeye Iowa, you ought to give Iowa a tryyyyyyyyyyyyyy' and 'You are in Iooooooway' 'I thought you folks pronounced it Iowa' in my head. And I remember this shit from high school. 1989. TWENTY FRICKING YEARS AGO! Quite often when someone says Goodnight, the barbershop quartet in my brain explodes into 'Gooooodnight ladies, Gooooodniiiight ladies, Goodnight Ladies, we're going to leave you now. Pickalittle talkalittle pickalittle talkalittle cheep cheep cheep talkalot pickalittle more'
Anyway, today the topic at work has been twitter. I have been ranting about it, blogging about it, all that shit. So now I have Trouble with a Capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for Pool stuck in my head. The part that goes 'and all your river city youth with be fritterin. Fritterin away their noontime suppertime choretime too!' except in my world, the River City youth will be twittering. Twittering away their suppertime noontime choretime too! Never mind getting dandelions picked or the beefsteak pounded! And they'll be coverin up a telltale breath with sensen.
I can't remember my sister's birthday but I HAVE THESE 20 YEAR OLD LYRICS BURNED INTO MY DAMN BRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy shit, it's quittin' time. Twitterin' time.
