Holy shit! It looks like the Kindle 2 is out. I have to get my hands on one of these things and try it out. I wasn't too into the Kindle 1, you know the whole 'new technology always sucks' thing. But now, once the price comes down from 'astronomical' into 'high orbit' range, I may look into getting one of these.



I thought a couple people around here had the Kindle--any comments on this damn thing that's going to change the world forever?


 


edit: I just realized there is already a thread about this in the 'books' forum. But finding it before I blogged would have taken a)initiative and b)intelligence on my part.

My Kindle 2 was delivered today by Amazon...I can't wait to get home! \r \r Blog and mini-review will surely follow.

I've been seriously considering the Kindle but not for personal casual use. I have a bookshelf full of technical books, each of which are about 3 inches wide. I'd love to carry my tech library with me. I have to investigate how many technical books support the kindle ebook format.

Venom - I've heard that the Kindle is not great at supporting anything that might have a lot of pictures - like a tech book might have with models and diagrams and such...I'd check that aspect out too in addition to the availability of titles.

I use my iphone which is a little meh with ebooks, the kindle looks sweet though\r \r TDrag, don't you have an iphone?\r \r Just curious how you compare the 2 for ebooks

I have no idea what the fuck a kindle is. I am gonna go google it.

Yeah, I have an iphone. But with the battery life and screen size, I wouldn't really consider it for a book replacement.
