Picture phone

How's this for BS?  I used to have a phone with Qwest as the service provider. Service was shitty and the phone was a piece of crap.  However, I could download ringtones for it. I could also send photos to other peoples' cellphones with ease, just pick their number, hit 'send picture message', and away it goes.

Not too long ago I got a fancy new Palm Treo with service through Alltel. You may or may not remember my blog about how much fun I had setting it up.  While in Vegas (and drunk) I decided to send photos of me having fun on the strip to my friends. Oh no, no you cannot do that with Smart Phone. Today I finally called in to find out why the hell I cannot send picture messages with this premium messaging plan that I have. Here's the gist of the conversation.

'I can't send pictures, and that's about the only fancy thing I ever do with the phone.'
'You can still send pictures, you just do it through e-mail.'
'But I don't want to send it to someone's e-mail, I want to send it to their phone'
'If you send it to their e-mail, they will get it on their phone'
'How exactly is that supposed to work? I have a friend who does not check his e-mail on his phone'
'What's his service provider?'
'T-Mobile'
'His e-mail is his phone number @tmomail.net'
'How the heck was I supposed to know that?'
'You couldn't.'
'And what about other friends with other providers? I have to find out their provider and call you back?'
'No, most people will not know the e-mail address. I only know T-Mobile because I have it myself. You will have to call each provider to find out their e-mails.'
'This is ridiculous. Could you make it any harder?'
'Sir do you have anything else I can help you with today?'
'Goodbye.'


In addition, this fancy motherfucking fuckety fuck of a phone cannot have ringtones or wallpaper downloaded to it. What the fuck????????/ How in the fuckety fuck does the technology go BACKWARDS?  My 3-year old phone had all that shit on it!!!!!! It's MIND FUCKING BOGGLING.
