Puzzle Quest

So last night I was cleaning out my staggeringly awesome 20GB drive [side rant: WTF with 180 dollars for a drive upgrade? Fuck microsoft with that shit.  I'll just stop downloading shit when my drive fills up until they offer a reasonable fucking alternative]  and found the demo for Puzzle Quest that i'd downloaded but never played.  Well I played it and liked it so I bought the full version. A few levels in...

WTF??W T F????? First of all, if you wait a few seconds, the game will suggest a move. NEVER EVER make that move.  Every time I take that suggestion, the very next move, the computer beats the living shit out of me.  Must be great having that kind of control.  'Oh here's an idea, try this. WHAMMO!  -200 points'. Incredible.

Also, I cannot figure out the damn skulls.  I need to chain 3 skulls together to hit the guy. I know that much. But every once in a while, the computer is able to hit me with only 2 skulls. At first I thought i was imagining it, but later I caught it a couple of times pretty clearly. WTF???? Different rules for him I guess. The thing that gets me is that it seems when the computer does it, he does it really quickly, like he's hoping I won't notice.  I am normally not a conspiracy guy with games cheating (except in Empire Earth) but damn, man. At least make it LOOK fair.

The game seems fun but I cannot imagine how hard it will be at the later levels. There are times when the computer makes a move, shit starts moving around, my controller is shaking and lightning is all over the damn screen, I cannot follow anything that happened.  It takes me a minute just to physically recover from the sensory overload unleashed upon my pea-sized brain, and then i realize i lost about 200 HP and the calm, tranquil computer voice lady says 'Excuse me, I am sure you haven't noticed this but your warrior is about to DIE'.  Holy hell.

In other news, I got my latest OXM today which means the rest of the universe has probably had it 3 weeks already because for some reason I live in a Lost-type time bubble where it takes that magazine an extra special long time to make it to my house. But that means it's better, it ages like fine wine.  So there's a preview of Ghostbusters in there! It says it's due around Halloween and it looks RAD with a capital D!  I played the old game on the Commie 64 until my brain couldn't stand it anymore. I loved that game and the weird way the voice sounded, like some bored version of Sloth from the Goonies.  As long as the controls on this one aren't horrendously contrived I will probably play it.

I wish I had some kind of link to info on the game but this isn't one of those types of blogs, sorry.

I am totally addicted to puzzle quest. It doesn't get harder, but it takes longer because your enemies have more XP to drain. If you ever want to Multiplayer it let me know.

I just discovered it also and I have the same problems as you. I don't know what the heck is going on half the time but it is a blast.
