Soccer update

So my knee is healing. That's right, I beat the hell out of my knee at the game Wednesday. I think part of it is the fact that I bought cheap crappy soccer shoes thinking I could just get by with them, but I've actually had knee problems ever since the martial arts class I took a few years ago.  But apparently the doctor thought I was making up my knee pain because they took an MRI and couldn't find anything. I've since been told the guy sounds like a quack but whatever. The damn knee hurts, I don't care what your lite-brite up on the wall says.

So there's a practice tomorrow, my knee is just starting to not hurt like hell--it's downgraded to 'a little bit sore'. I'm taking tomorrow off, and I'll hopefully be ready for the game Wednesday (which we may have to forfeit anyway--half our team apparently will be out of town this week).  We lost the game 4-1 but two were bullshit penalty kicks.  We were also told that we somehow got bumped up into the next league--so we have a team with about 5 or 6 good soccer players and the rest are either out of shape, overweight, or have never played soccer before, or at the very least not for years, playing against teams that have been in the league and played together before.  So losing 4-1 was kind of a victory for us.  I sat on the bench most of the second half because of the knee thing, hopefully I won't have to do that again.

One other thing, I picked up Winning Eleven soccer this week--I told the chick I had to get in some practice, which she didn't think was funny. Neither was she amused when I kept turning on the Fox Soccer Channel every night, then laying down on the couch telling her I needed some practice time.  She is from Mexico and apparently they take their soccer very seriously down there. Apparently playing a soccer game and watching Man United on TV just isn't an acceptable method of practice there. But it's damn fun. The game is freaking impossible though, I cannot for the life of me score a goal--EVERY shot goes into the stratosphere and I can't figure out why. How hard can it be--press X for god's sake! Do I have to warm it up first with some tender words? It's a damn button--you press it! I guess I'll figure it out eventually.

Also I'll be picking up Forza as soon as I can find it, and probably Shadowrun too although I'm generally a single-player gamer. I mean it's got a Healing Tree in it for god's sake! If nothing else I'll play as an elf, climb the healing tree and sing fun happy songs to passers-by.  Now I'm having Star Wars Galaxies flashbacks. I also saw that that Rockstar ping-pong game is on sale for 20 bucks at Fry's!!!! I mean to pick that up along with Fight Night---eventually.
