Streaming Video Sucks

After all these years, how the hell have the Computer Gurus sitting on their lofty mountaintops not figured out streaming video? I'm not talking like youtube videos, where you can pause the video and let it load a little bit ahead. I'm talking the video where you have no control, where it wants to load and play and for some reason the estimate of how far ahead is always way, way off so you get 2 seconds of video at a time followed by 8 seconds of pause.  I mean come on dipshits, let the damn thing load before you start trying to play it.  I do not understand this with my limited amount of computer knowledge, but it seems like some jackass somewhere would figure out 'hey, this isn't working'. But no.

You suck! (Did I mention I was a software developer) There are video streaming clients that won't start playing until enough has been loaded, like quicktime. What you are seeing is something that displays the data as it comes down the stream, it isn't storing it locally like youtube or quicktime. You and the server the video is on needs more bandwidth :) It probably isn't the developer, it's the management of the company the developer was contracted with. Company is like "We want a player to view streaming videos on our website, it needs to be done by this unreasonable date." The date comes and it isn't done. So now the developer is in shit creek and has to cut corners to satisfy management's needs instead of doing it properly. But then when something goes wrong everyone starts blaming the developer for doing a bad job. Bastards... Have you not read any Dilbert cartoons? It's funny because it is the truth! I would like to see this mountain top. I can't see it from this ditch.

OK Poonga....I'm not blaming the developer specifically, because I don't know enough about computamawhatsits to know who's responsible. I am just the bratty little kid throwing a fit because his toy doesn't work properly :)

The best streaming video I have seen is from the Ichat service Apple offers for a premium. http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/features/ichat.html
