Shared on Thu, 08/23/2007 - 15:50So I went to bed last night feeling fine...nothing wrong...then 2:30am rolls around and I'm next off and running to the bathroom to puke my guts out. I know what your thinking, "why would anyone start their first blog with this?" but bare with me please I do have a point to this as the title would suggest. So, from 2:30am till a bit after 7am this morning I am sicker than a Michael Vick trained dog. I do my best to pull myself together because there are few things going on at work today and I have to be there. I get to work and of course everyone thinks I have a hang over since yesterday sucked but I don't like to whine so all I reply is "feeling under the weather, just came in to get done what we need and then going to head home" to which I get the stereotypical office banter on what a baby I am. Mind you, I have not had a sick day in the past 10 months or so.
So I go to my desk, boot the PC and retrieve my voice mails like I always do but soon after one by one everyone leaves and I am alone to answer then ever ringing phone. I start by taking care of my customers, then the next guy's customers and then the next guy's customers and before I know it I'm doing it all for everyone while they banter about and walk by here and there to throw out a verbal spew on how bad I look. Meanwhile I am feeling worse by the minute and starting to lose my temper from all the BS I'm having to deal with until FINALLY four hours later I get to go home to rest.
The morale of the story is: When sick just don't go to work - it's not worth it and the effort you put forth is always mocked and ridiculed which will only make your day worse. You do a good job, you work hard - take it easy the same BS you "needed" to take care of will always be there tomorrow.

That is why work at times doesn't work!
