I have a friend that has the "legendary tattoo" (the convenant skull and crossed swords), right above that he has a Mario tattoo. He was kind of an idiot but hit tattoo did look good.
The biggest issue with black and white detailed tattoos is also when you get older the fine detail bleeds together. I have a tattoo on my left tricep and made to make it bold and spaced well so when it does bleed, it won't distort. Ask a tattoo artist about that as well.. overall nice idea.
another note, I personally wouldn't get the "3", as it denotes that the 3rd is the pennacle of the series. Why not just get the Halo essence (like the legendary symbol or Halo text) without the 3, that way you can show that you're a fan of Halo, and not necessarily just the third episode in the series?
I wouldn't normally either but this is a special circumstance. I would never do this for any other project. This has just been such a big part of my life for 6 years and it's sort of changing point in my life with getting into the industry, being respected, etc.
Find an amazing tattoo artist and then just give them some ideas (like all these images) and let them draw away for you...See what they come up with. I like the flowery ones though too...I bet a good tattoo artist could do something that would make them look more manly "Mrs. Doublefire"...There's something cool about coming up with the idea, but also something very cool about having someone's else art worn on your body. And if it were me, I'd do something more understated...with a little mystery too it.
