Progress

A Klee painting named "Angelus Novus" shows an angel looking as though he is about to move away from something he is fixedly contemplating. His eyes are staring, his mouth is open, his wings are spread. This is how one pictures the angel of history. His face is turned toward the past. Where we perceive a chain of events, he sees one single catastrophe which keeps piling wreckage upon wreckage and hurls it in front of his feet. The angel would like to stay, awaken the dead, and make whole what has been smashed. But a storm is blowing from Paradise; it has got caught in his wings with such violence that the angel can no longer close them. This storm irresistibly propels him into the future to which his back is turned, while the pile of debris before him grows skyward. This storm is what we call progress.

(Walter Benjamin)

Only YOU can wake up your fellow Americans. Having an opinion is NOT enough. Do something TODAY to make a fellow American THINK.

This Weekend's Assignment: Call your Senator (Switchboard 202-224-3121) and tell them what you think of the stimulus bill.

Let them know you need help paying your over-inflated mortgage, or employment, or tax relief- not an unfocused spending spree by govt.

Be short and to the point (about 30 seconds or less) write down what you are going to say before you call and be courteous.

Thank you for asking people to call. If more people did, we could take back control of our Government.

My Senator is already voting against it, so there's nothing for me to do but wait and hope the rest of the country finds the "on" switch in their brain.

meemoss...he's 4'10" tall. i saw him at the lan and asked him what horse he rode in on. he said the horse's name was trigger. his career as a jockey must have gone downhill if he's 180 now, cause when i saw him at the lan he was a svelt 90lbs. still a bit heavy for a jockey, but he can hold a lamp with the best of them.

Fetal, you're a douche. :) For the record, I am a shade under 5'9", although Fetal's description isn't far off the mark for the size I was when I graduated from high-school. Only a late growth spurt saved me from having to use a booster seat and pedal extensions to drive a car.
