Yeah, Iplayed toured the game Battle for the Pacific in a couple sessions and finished a 'normal' difficulty level. A 'cakewalk' is a bit of an overstatement. I discovered quite early that playing the game, i.e. running around and shooting enemy NPCs, is mostly optional. Your objective is to follow your commander guide around and occasionally shoot the enemies that cause your commander guide to get 'stuck'. If you are in a squad situation, let the squad do all the shooting, they will pause when it is your turn to actually do something. Just remember to keep up with your commander guide, because if he gets too far ahead or behind you will have to restart the level.
My guess is that the game would be good for achievementwhores oriented gamers and those with nothing to do for an afternoon. Completing the 'normal' difficulty level I got 10 out of 44 achievements (160 points...um, woot?). Not wanting to waste time researching achievements for this pathetic game, I would guess that there are 10 achievements per level with the remainder in multiplayer. Good luck finding someone to play with, though. Seriously, why would anyone bother.
Wrapped the sucker up and back to Gamefly it goes...good riddance!
I'm now playing the game The Outfit. It is a messy little third-person shooter based loosely during the WWII time frame. Why is it messy...? Let me just write that it is due to the quantity of issues plaguing a light, but generally good (well, compared to BotP) game. I'm still slogging through the levels and trying to get used to the three characters you can control, so maybe it would be a better idea to hold off on a review until I get further along.
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock Gamefly, Time's tickin' away (and I wanna play)...
