Just been working through R6. The game gets really frustrating when you have to play through an area +5 times before somehow clearing it. Then only to get killed before the next progress save. Or worse, one of your almost worthless teammates gets killed (or both go down out in the open and you somehow don't have any smoke). I swear, I have been to the point of telling them to 'hold' while I go clean out a few areas. Any enemy group larger than three and these two numbnuts get killed immediately.
While out and about the other day, I grabbed a copy of C&C3. The demo and reviews make this game look very sweet. Reality can be cruel sometimes so I've lowered my sights somewhat due to the aging of the powerhouse that was/is my main pc. Even if I have to drop the graphics down significantly, the game should still be capable of decent play. I don't need an eyecandy type game, an RTS doesn't need eyecandy. Right? Yeah, just gotta keep saying that until I believe it...
A change at work brought on-call status into play. The previous week was another co-worker that never had on-call before, and he didn't have any problems – not one call. I'm not that lucky. About 45 minutes after I managed to drift off to sleep the damn cell phone yanked me back to reality. Crap-call, of course. If it doesn't affect our customers (or, rather, our ability to generate revenue from them), the main systems or sudden structure/electrical/network problems relating to the facilities that house the main systems - I don't care, it can wait.
It should come to no surprise then that an hour after the previous crap-call an event took place that would have, marginally, met the first condition. No call. Instead a visitor to a neighbor woke me by trying to enter my patio (the original handle-lock broke so it was replaced by a simple hasp & u-bolt. This genius couldn't figure it out. In the end I was going to go out and show him how to move the ripped & billowing screen and hop over the cross-beam to have access to whatever garbage his heart desired, but he moved on). Five hours later the event happened again, and again no call. They figured I would be arriving in a few hours, so it might as well wait. The second identical priority-one event and they waited. Nothing like a stressful start to a workday.
Enough about that, I need to get working on that 'superhero' thingy that Devonsangel and LuxDraconis are trying to continue....
