As stated yesterday, Bioshock is a graphically beautiful game. The designers must have spent considerable time working with the textures, mapping, mixing and optimizing. That stated, I did encounter some oddities on occasion – usually an object would have a blurry or out of focus appearance until the engine updated the environment. Sometimes important detail was lost or not applied in the initial texture and you had to wait for a possible update.
The game mechanics are also very good. Having the option to hack a device or safe, use a one-time auto-hack or pay to hack is a great idea. It makes sure you have several options available in case you think you absolutely must have access. It also gets boring after a awhile – “oooh, a safe, I'll try hacking it myself”, “oops set off the alarm” lose several minutes fighting off those damn flying bots and some splicers, “umm, one more try”, “damn it! Shocked my health away!”, “heck with this...” auto-hack or pay-to-open – all for some rubber tubing, pocket change and a few pistol rounds – sheeesh!
Oh, and BTW, if you are thinking of downloading the PC demo or buying the PC version, you may want to read this article about a possible rootkit installed along with the game/demo....linkage
