Shared on Sat, 12/08/2007 - 11:16Well, another important day has arrived - my birthday. Increment that number off to the left, strive to act a bit older, don't let the timmies get to me, etc., etc., etc.
To celebrate I took time off work for yesterday and today. Kind of a bummer that I'm also on-call, but thems the breaks. Get to catch-up on TV & gaming.
Been playing a big ole bunch of TF2 and FEAR files. More TF2 now that I've come to a road block in FF-Perseus Mandate - an end-game boss that cannot be killed with 500 rounds from a mini-gun, numerous grenade blasts and numerous magazine loads of ammo from other guns. I don't know how to kill the bugger, and I haven't found a walkthrough.
That just leaves more time for playing TF2. I think I played for around five hours last night. Just had a grand ole time going from one map to another, one server to another, one group of team-mates to another. Great fun.
Only two drawbacks to TF2 - spies and headsets. I absolutely hate the spy class. Dam buggers force you to suspect every team-mate as a spy and shoot at every shadow. Then they are really the bane of every engineer (my primary class) due to plugging the gear with 'sapper's which eventually kill the gear. Of course to be effective they plug in a sapper then go invisible and kill you before you can fix it, therefore dooming the gear to destruction.
On headsets, I hate the MS supplied headset. Damn thing is useless. You cannot hear anybody nor can anybody hear you. That is why I bought an Earforce headset a long time ago. Actually remembered it a few days ago and found it - broken. The right ear piece is hanging by the wire and when you try to wear the headset the ear piece just flips up so as to be almost entirely useless.
Fixed it with a head sweat-band that I use for exercising. Looks funny, feels wrong and hurts after a while, but it allows me to work with the team & play without disturbing the neighbors (other than outbursts of yelling about spies after muting the mic).
