Firstly, the weakly recap...
My eye! It burns! A weekly recap is all that can save me! Here goes: It is a good one! NotStyro had seven days of gaming! In a row! I know! Crazy! It was productive... Gamerscore went up 230 points so I am happy. Yay for 15 achievements! w00t!
If I had a DOLLAR for every new game I played during the week, I would have 2 bucks! w00t! I can now add Blacksite, and Call of Duty 4 to my collection... unless they were rentals or demos or betas. I couldn't tell. Also, I think we can all agree that NotStyro was a FPS junky last week playing a ton of The Orange Box. He played it on 4 of the days.
Nice.
Didn't get any games for the b-day or x-mas, but got a gift-card that immediately went to that purpose. Bought COD4 and completed the campaign on 'normal' difficulty. I want to get further through the rental Blacksite before I go back to COD4 and try the 'veteran' difficulty & multiplayer.
Anybody else find the music on COD4 annoying? I think one of the things that annoys me about COD4 is that you are not given separate music and game sound adjustments.
In addition to the gift-card, I received a v-rocker. I needed something like that for getting me off a small bean-bag that wasn't all it should have been. It turned out that the v-rocker wasn't a good fit for me (probably made for a teenager), so I returned it and got a Pyramat S2000, The Pyramat fits a whole lot better and probably sounds much better. I just need to get used to the 'subwoofer' that is pounding into my back.
I'll probably use the remainder of the gift-card for a new set of Earforce, or other type, headsets. I don't mind the X1s, other than the cords and 'mute' slider (I would prefer a push-to-talk button, but don't know if anyone even makes those). The X3s got good ratings as a 'wireless' headset (ok, less wires is more accurate), except for reports of an always present background hiss. Anyone with X3s care to comment?
As always in a new year, I have promises to clean up my act, my condo and anything else I can affect. The first order of business is to get rid of some of the clutter in the condo. I'll have to research selling stuff on e-bay & maybe craigslist (for the non-shippable stuff). Get rid of all these damn VHS movies & tapes, then start work on the books. Anybody want a big box of OS/2 books? Good for recycling or add mass to your next book bonfire...
