The reburb'd 360 that MS sent is still a smoldering pile-o-crap, but at least I've been dealing with the issues. The system has already frozen once on me playing Orange Box (TF2 Rulz!!!) and since the power button doesn't work that means unplugging the unit from the brick. Not pretty or easy. I'll have to call xbox again to verify the warranty on these refurb'd units. Hopefully it'll be at least 90 days, then I can get some playing in before doing another exchange.
Since then I figured the problem is heat related so I moved the 360 to the top of one of the audio stands flanking the TV. I also bought a small fan to blow cooler air around the sides and back of the 360. I think with the changes the 360 has stopped freezing, or at least lessened the probability. Kind of looks odd sitting on top of two vertical CD drives giving enough height for the fan to move air. Just need to get a quieter fan so I can hear the environmental sounds in games.
In addition to playing TF2, GameFly sent me FEAR Files. So hopefully between those titles will be enough to chase away the SAD.
It may not be SAD that is bothering me, it may just be the normal too-much-to-do-so-shutdown-and-circle-the-drain-for-awhile things I do sometimes.
Ah, well, time to go look for those videos that tweaked Soup. Something is giving me a hint they're going to be really lame. Prolly just the Soup-is-an-internet-featherweight thing again...
