Last minute packing and planning...

I haven't been posting and playing as usual lately due to planning for my upcoming Oregon vacation. It is all coming back to me why I so rarely like to air-travel - all the planning, packing and traveling about. Once I get to the destination I'm fine, but the journey there is a pain. From dealing with airlines and the mess of regulations for checked and carry-on baggage (how big can my bags be? how heavy? is that measured each or individually? can I carry-on a laptop in case with a small camera case? what size/weight restrictions for carry-on? what about TSA rules? exception for a gamer carrying his 360? why not?! -- have to ask of all the airliners involved to find the most restrictive & plan with that in mind).

If I had been able to take a whole month-long vacation I would have just rented a car and driven from Florida to Washington (state) and taken my time visiting all the interesting places in between. With about four days to get to Vegas, I figure another two or three to pick through the Rockies and I would be in Washington (state). Then drive straight down the Pacific coast, and back along I-10 & I-40. That would have been another great vacation idea.  Maybe next year.

Oh, well.  Wish me luck and maybe I'll post pictures and blog along the route.

Flying is a PAIN IN THE ASS! But as someone who travels with their 360 i can give you the skinny. I pack my 360 into a backpack along with the power supply and games. The controllers and cables you can check, or backpack them as well. In my backpack, i also have my laptop, food (they don't feed you anymore), headphones etc. Now when you go through security you have to take your laptop out of the bag but your 360 can go through the scanner packed. 3 times no one's bothered to say anything and 1 time they asked if i had a computer in there and i said no it's a video game console. He said ok and passed the bag through. You can carry on 1 bag and 1 personal item. So you could have a backpack with your 360 and a small laptop case with your laptop. Or a briefcase and your backpack. That kind of thing. A lady can have a shoulder bag and her purse. Now what you probably won't get away with is a packback and one of those huge laptop bags that are like 10 inches thick. Also with the liquids. You can carry bathroom supply liquids in 3oz containers. They must be packed together in a clear ziplock bag. Personally, i just check that stuff, why carry it on unless you're trying to avoid checking bags. But if you're going on vacation chances are you're checking bags so save yourself the hassle and check that stuff including toothpaste which they consider a 'liquid'. Also no soda/water or other beverages can be taken through security. You hav eto buy your drinks on the other side once you clear security. Whew. Ok good luck! I'm hitting the airport again in 2 weeks myself.

Thanks for the info Tank! The laptop and support equipment is heavy enough, I would injure myself if I had to also carry the 360. I hope to have a good trip, DA. Thanks.
