Shared on Tue, 04/08/2008 - 15:14I can only imagine that how I feel about losing is inversely proportional to how Hillary Clinton feels about losing, but our commonality it that we both excel at it. I'm just glad I'm losing weight and not honor, dignity, money and political aspirations. But more on weight loss later...
On the gaming front, I've gotten another achievement on Vega 2 and since it is now my weekend, maybe I'll be able to finish the story/campaign.
I talked to the manager about my vacation time and he figured I've got almost 3 weeks to burn before roll-over. Roll-over is the time when any unused vacation time over a certain amount is rolled-over into sick time, and due to missing the roll-over a couple times I already have enough to last around 6 months of sickness. So I'll take two week off and four Mondays off and that will take care of it.
What to do during those two weeks? Hmm. I can't afford to fly out to Oregon again (damit!), I still don't have a passport so can't go to the islands/cruising (damit!), the theme parks in Orlando are only fun if you are with others or children (neither available--damit!) and sitting around the condo stewing in my juices will not make a good break. I'm toying with the idea of touring the Florida West coast and gulf cities and parks (possibly including Alabama, Miss & Louisiana), but other that seeing/swimming with Manatees and snapping shots of Central/North Florida scrub, there isn't a whole lot interesting to do there.
So maybe that should be my theme of the vacation - tour, bicycling, photography and relaxing....
Dieting news...I'm down to within 10 pounds of my second goal! Check out the blog graphic/chart. It is indeed nice and sweet. Hopefully I can knock those ten pounds out in the next two or three weeks.
I think I figured out why I was having trouble breaking below 194 - starvation. You see, according to the diet tracking site TheDailyPlate, you are supposed to diet and exercise, but what I didn't really get was eating back the calories from the exercise. So if the site recommends a calorie restriction, and you calculate the calories you burn in exercise, then you have to eat more to compensate. Simple, no? Yeah, I didn't get it, nor follow it. So I was left wondering why I couldn't break 194 and ignoring the site showing me that my net caloric intake was 89-95. Just a tad on the low side.
As everyone should know, starving yourself will only work for a few days. Then your body will compensate and start burning leaner and storing more unspent calories.
The answer? I raised my net caloric intake to compensate for most of the exercise and the weight is now dropping off fairly normally. Out of the last ten days since making the change, only three days have been weight increases. I'm currently trying to figure out if those increases were due to water intake or some weird digestive speed bump. But, I've somewhat stopped worrying about them, since they are usually followed by a fairly large weight drop.
I'll take leave now, but here is a quote to consider...
