Shared on Fri, 02/16/2007 - 08:27The start of yet another mind-numbing work week.
Last week they tried to get me to build up some MMJ to RJ45 serial cables. I told them that I've never done crimps on cabling before, but I would give it a try. Well, none of the cables worked. Even after triple-checking diagrams and connections. Hell, I'm a PC guy, I need a cable I go to Comp-USA or order one from a website.
I may have finally gotten BellSouth to fix my DSL/voice line. Since mid-December the line has been going dead whenever even a small amount of rain fell. South Florida isn't exactly the same as the US Pacific Northwest, but we tend to get enough rain to make the situation intolerable.
So, yesterday a couple BS techs were working at a neighbors apartment. I quickly printed the picture of what I think is the problem (link). Add 'Think this is a problem?' with my building/unit number and wait. Amazingly these two came to my door and I escorted them to the site. A couple hours later some BS techs were out fixing the problem.
It will be cool if this fixes the problem. But Bellsouth has some serious customer service issues if customers have to flag down a random tech before a problem gets properly addressed. Who knows, maybe BS merging with AT&T will help, but I doubt it.
