Shared on Mon, 11/26/2007 - 14:29So I didn't get a five day break from work. The signature-authority manager (for the acting manager) offered me two four-day weekends instead of one five-day break and I took it. Had to work black-Friday, but since I'm not an insane consumer-freak, and the day would be easy, I went for it. Good thing I did because it gave me today off and I needed today off to receive the package that was coming from McAllen, TX
The 360 is back in da house! Not quite four weeks, but still a damn long time to go without.
Near as I can figure, MS shipped me a refurb'd unit. No HDMI port and no improved heat sink. So maybe I'll have to do this exchange again sometime. Of course it is a rarity to get a refurb'd anything that doesn't come without issues. I've already discovered the following issues - power button doesn't work (fine, I'll use the controller or remote) and the eject button for the DVD drive doesn't work (er, remote or dashboard menu works). I wonder if it is too late to buy an extended warranty...
I'll put this 360 through the wringer later today, right now I'm sort-of content that it appears to be mostly functional (like everything from MS).
Finally filled the new car and figured I got about 29 mpg. Not good. Par for the old Civic. I must have gotten something wrong in the calculations or the mileage was off. It could have also been the tires were all low on air. Apparently the stealership missed that final inspection. Everything is up to snuff now and even the averaged mpg meter is updating with reasonable figures - currently around 38 just driving ~5 miles home from work.
Well, time to go startup my 360blog and GameFly queue...
