Rain day...

Feh! Took off on my ten mile bike ride and hit some rain. I was thinking it was just a passing shower and I can just continue. Except the rain kept coming down harder. Eventually I pulled into the covered courtyard of the city library and wrung out the clothes while waiting for the rain to stop.

Rain stopped and I resumed the ride. Not half a mile further the rain started up again. I pulled into a city park restroom and repeated the clothes wringing action while waiting for the rain to stop.

As soon as the rain stopped, I started out again with power strokes – sort of wedging myself between pedals and braced against handlebars. Two strokes later and the left grip & hand slides off the bar and I go down on the crossbar (or, rather, crotchbar). Fortunately the bike has a really low crossbar, so my boys don't get slammed – much.

I put the grip back on and force myself to tone down the action. As I'm turning into the street the right grip and hand goes flying. I manage to leap off the back of the bike, and it wrecks in the road. Fortunately there was not much traffic, so I can pickup and try again. Gotta get new grips on the bike, some that can take getting water logged and not slide off.

I guess I should also put slick tires on the spare bike and then mount it on the trainer. I also might check and lube the elliptical trainer. One way or another I'll get exercise.

I played the 360 a bit and managed to get a ways further in Overload. Some of the puzzles are a pain. Tedious and irritating. Like trying to get the minions to carry their 'hive' or other treasure to a tower portal. They will not likely go to the nearest or easiest portal – the one past enemies and hazards is their choice. Grrrr...

Also played a bit of Dirt. Looked cool with varied off-road racing action. Too bad it doesn't have a sandbox mode – a large open area full of loops and jumps and whatnot where you can run the various vehicles any way you wish. Nope, you can run through the tracks and that is it. Go too far off the track and the game will reset you back to the track. Just what I don't want – a nanny-mode off-road racing game.

Hopefully next Tuesday I'll get around to trying Darkness, if hurricane Dean doesn't pay a visit to Florida.

Styro: I found out that if you target the hive while your minions are carrying it, you can guide it yourself. But usually they do go to the nearest one, it's just that sometimes the nearest one is ahead of you, through the enemies--not behind you where it's clear.

Thanks, Mike. I didn't realize that I could guide the minions carrying the objects. I'll have to try that sometime.
