You see, instead of playing Armored Core 4 (the demo seemed cool), I've been out and about getting all familiar with my new camera (Panasonic FZ50). So today I went out to a city park I've never visited. Roamed about the boardwalk and taking shots. Squirrels all over the place, running up to me like I have food, then away again when they realise I have nothing to give.
Well, I'm out taking shots off of a section of the boardwalk overlooking the lagoon. Take a shot, fiddle with controls, take a shot, fiddle with controls, etc. At one point I can't get the control & options I want. So there I am hunched over leaning on the rail and playing with the camera like it is some kind of Game Boy, when I feel something on my arm. Glanced over and, damit (!), a squirrel was trying to climb up onto my arm. Less than three inches from nose to nose. I'm no Dr Dolittle, but not a hell stomper either, so I shrugged my arm and the squirrel ran off.
I guess I'm been bitten hard by the shutterbug because all I could think of was what a great shot that would have been.
But I got this one after we got some distance between us...
(I can hear all the women say 'aaawwwww!' or 'cuuuuuute!')
I think maybe I'll be able to start AC4 tomorrow. There are some more parks around that I want to visit, but I think they want around $16 for admission. That is a good chunk of change for a day pass that I'll only use 2 - 3 hours worth. And it doesn't particularly help knowing that the price of an annual pass can be reduced with proof of a day pass. I'll have to breakdown and get an annual pass sometime, but in the meantime - AC4 demands attention.
PS - Go rent the DVD "Steven Wright - When the Leaves Blow Away." The guy still has it. I haven't laughed at anything that funny in a long time. The stand-up portion is only about 30 minutes. After that is some weird rambling story that should be skipped. But the stand-up - awesomely funny!
Update: Apparently Comedy Central is airing the Steven Wright video now. Go watch it already!
