Shared on Thu, 10/27/2011 - 17:29I know that I don't blog much, usually I don't have much to blog about. I lead a fairly boring and uneventful life. Well, that is until around Halloween. Then things around my house get a little hectic. I'm one of those all or nothing types when it comes to Halloween costumes. Almost nothing is sacred when it comes to making the perfect Halloween costume. And this year is no excecption. I have a few rules for my costumes. 1. No Superheroes. I'm not a big guy, and muscular macho superheroes don't do it for me. 2. No Masks. If you can't make it with your own two hands then it isn't worth having. Two exceptions are the Halo Armors(Spartan Armor), and Storm Trooper armor. 3. Details, don't half ass the effects. That's what really draws out the costume, and gives it character. Remember, these are rules for myself only, I don't apply them to others. I know that not everyone feels the same as I do.
Every year I attempt to out accomplish the costume from the previous year. In 2009 I went as Jack Sparrow, won a couple local costume contests, and place top 3 in several others. 2010 I went as the Mad Hatter, from the newer version of Alice in Wonderland. Won the costume contests I entered except one which I took 3rd in. So came this year, and I had to come up with something to beat out the Mad Hatter outfit I made.
Yeah, there is kind of a theme here. I seem to be drawn toward Johnny Depp characters. Even this year my top costume choice was Edward Scissorhands. Though I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, and try someting a bit different. I looked into being the Joker (Dark Knight version), yet that didn't happen. Though I did buy a bunch of items to try and make a Joker outfit. When it was decided that the Joker was out, I went looking for new ideas. Then my wife came up with the idea of going as Two Face, and at first I wasn't thrilled with the idea. Just seemed like to short of time to pull off the costume to my standards. Well, we ran with it. I bought a suit ($10) from the local Goodwill, some makeand ping pong balls from Walmart ($15), and some liquid latex, spirit gum, and face paints from the Party Depot ($25).
. About 6 hours of work and i had a better costume than I imagined.
Here are some pics of said outfit.
Thanks to my wife for the idea, and for all the help in making the costume as great as it is.
