Hi all,

Well this October 6 I am at the ripe age of 37 getting married for the first time.   My lovely fiancee who is 33 has also never been married.  Believe it or not we met on Eharmony.   where both from small towns and actually only live about 15 minutes apart.  I am sure our paths have crossed many times, but it took the internet to make the connection.  Funny how that works.

The wedding plans are coming together and all the reservations have been made.  Hall, Church, Food, etc......    Kathy and I are paying for our own wedding.  We wanted to have something nice around 200 guests but not break the bank.   It has been a rude awakening when it comes to the cost of all this stuff.  It's unbelivable what some people want to charge.   Your kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place, and they know it.   All I can say is WOW!!!!!

We met with one photographer that wanted to charge us $6000 for his services.  Now  grant you, it comes with photo albums, blah, blah, blah,.   BUT $6000????????  I wanted to melee him on the back of the head and give him a good teabag.   Needless to say we did not go with that individual.

Congrats, I think $6,000 is a bit much, but I will tell you this, scrimp on many things, but pay for the photos, those are what will last!

Hey dude - $6000 is outrageous. We got married about 8 years ago, and I think we only paid like $1200 or $1500 or something. Secondly, WHEN'S THE BACHELOR PARTY???

Congratulations. Dastard and I met on Match.com and got married last September. One piece of advice, don't be afraid to do things a little different. Make the ceremony yours. For example, instead of a wedding candle that may ultimately sit in the attic or a box, we had a sand ceremony and now the vases are in the living room as a part of the decor.

Congrats on the wedding! I'm glad you two found each other :) I had a cousin on a very limited budget for her wedding. She contacted the local community college's photography department and found a student willing to take pictures for next to nothing, and they were beautiful. It might be a bit of a risk, but if you ask the teachers to reccommend someone, and check out their portfolio, it might be worth it. Just a thought ;)

Congrats! Keep looking around on the photographer....sometimes you can find someone who does it as a second or part time job...will give you a good price and lets you keep the CD (if they are digital) to later make any reprints. My sister in law is gettintg married in September and found someone with great ability at picture taking doing just this and she is only paying $300.
