About the Weather

So, we are supposed to get some ice/snow this afternoon.  That means all schools are closed, the grocery stores have been cleaned out, and the weather is the top story on the news.  The forecast is for 1-2 inches snow, turning to freezing rain, .25 ", and then rain after the temp rises a few more degrees.  Currently, the roads are absolutely dry and there is nothing falling from the sky at all.  What does all this mean?  Well, I am originally from the north where snow and ice are a way of life.  In fact, I moved south to escape that.  I used to laugh at the way everyone panics at just the thought of snow.  I have lived here 16 years and I don't laugh any more.  The reason for the panic is there is no way to clear the roads!  In the county I live in, there are zero snow plows, no facility for salting the roads, nothing!  I was housebound for a whole week a few years ago!  How do we clear the roads?  Sunshine and above freezing temperatures.  Acki!  The rest of this story is I have both grandkids today, cuz there is no school.  I'll put one in front of the xbox, the other on the PS2, and I won't see them for the rest of the day!
