Day Off

A day off with no real plans!  Bonus!  Well, the plumber has come and gone.....yeh, brand new house and already having plumbing problems.  Unmentionable plumbing problems.  We have a cleaning crew come in once a month, and they are coming at 11:00 (soon) then the rest of the day is mine all mine!  What to do?  Well, it's not as if I don't have a million things on my list.  But, at least, I can work my way down that list today.

Vertigo has cleared up all except for the "hangover".  I continue to have dizziness when I move certain ways.  It's a PITA, but I live with it.

Oh, I have a complaint about my job.  I have problems with being controlled.  I see this as a control issue, NOT a patient satisfaction issue.  They are mandating that all employees wear color coded scrubs.  RN's will wear navy, no prints, and can wear a white T shirt under (which I do) and a navy or white scrub jacket over (which I don't).  Now, the entire hospital, which is huge, is in an uproar about this.  No one wants it.  Some of the comments are "I better get my scrubs now cuz the uniform companies are gonna run out of my color".  Yeh, the hospital system is that big.  It could happen.  Is the hospital going to subsidize this?  Hell no!  So, all employees must spend prolly a minimum of $200 on up for a whole new wardrobe of scrubs.  Personally, I haven't got ANY navy scrubs.  So I need at least 5 sets of navy scrubs, several white T shirts, short and long sleeve, and maybe even a jacket or two.  Cost?  More than $500, I would guess.  And the nursing uniforms that I own now?  Useless.  And all this so that patients can tell the RNs from the LPNs from the food service workers.  Give me a break.  It's just one more way to control us.  I don't like it.  My rant for the day.  That is all.

My Hospital did the same uniform crap 2 years ago--RN's wear Royal---Ancillary staff wear Navy--all this to distinguish professionals from non. Of course now I am lumped with all sorts of "non" professionals--at least everyone knows you are of the cool class :-) and the Environmental Service (housekeeping) still wear surgical scrubs--so they actually look like Doctors and Nurses--which was the whole point of this uniform crap!

Why don't you guys set up a scrub exchange? Might save you a few dollars.
