We had somebody come and look at "the leak" today.  There is now a hole in my wall, in the kitchen.  Tiles are missing for about 2' x 10', and the subfloor is wet in places, drying in others.  Yikes!  When I came home from work, I was greeted with hubby holding up a piece of wood with big nails in it.  What?  He wanted me to look at it.  Yeh?  Then he told me that when they were nailing on the finish work around the pipes in that area in the kitchen, they put the nails right thru the pipes!  D'oh!!!  It's been leaking for 17 years!  Very, very slowly.....  Now, we have to replace all or most of the tiles, get a plumber to fix the pipes, and someone to fix the hole in the wall.  All because the guys that built our house were a bunch of idiots!  I wish I was better at ranting, cuz now is the time!  But........

at least your husband wasn't looking to whack you with the wood w/ nail... that would be worse. But yeah: leaks suck. Our hot water heater got a slow leak, my husband happened to check his e-mail int he AM: 2 inches of water. Luckily nothing damaged. Our roof also had a leak. We got it fixed, but not before some dry wall bubbled. So now sometime we have to repaint. boo....

Oh, that sucks. We had a leak the day we moved into our house. We are on a slab and it was right where the water heater is. Then, when we went to have someone put in our new dishwasher, I noticed it was very "warm" there and asked the guy. he said "Oh, it's just a hot spot. I swear I will never listen to anyone else! Hope the leak gets fixed soon!
