Shared on Wed, 06/17/2009 - 06:02I have been letting my hair grow out. Short is so much easier, that I haven't had any length for a looooong time. On the other hand, it also took me a long time to decide to keep it so short. That is me. I think about things before I do them. Sometimes way too much. But, it is starting to actually show some length. My ears are almost covered, the back is on my collar, so to speak, and my bangs....yikes! I call them bangs, but they are no longer bangs. Remember Cousin It? When my hair was long and my kids were young, I used to comb my hair over my face and put my glasses on. Hilarious! They luved it! Not going there now, tho.
This is the deal. I am getting lots of compliments. And, now that it is obvious that it is actually growing, I am getting teased, too. I cannot stand hair in my face. Ack! It was always there when I was very young, but that was eons ago. So, with "bangs" that go to my chin, and with the heaviness of my mop, I bought barrettes to keep it contained. They are very small, brown so they blend in, and, I thought, really unable to see. NOT! The barrette has become the symbol of my recently found freedom. I am now the "swinging single" cuz I decorate my hair. No, I am keeping my hair out of my face!!! I get all kinds of advice about how to place the barrette, what to buy next, etc. Why is it such a big deal? Dunno. Something to do besides sling chemo, I suppose. No, there won't be any pics cuz it is still at that awful stage where I have to stop myself from just cutting it all off. It's got just a bit of wave, all in the wrong places. But it is fun to do. See how long it gets.
