Shared on Tue, 12/11/2007 - 10:30Oh man, I had a vertigo attack during the night. I recognize this cuz it is certainly not the first time. I had to call out of work, once I was able to get out of bed. I tried...., but when I rolled out of bed I rolled onto the floor. It is sooooo weird, cuz the whole world is different and my stomach does NOT like that! Feeling some better now, but I still have what I refer to as "the hangover". Unpleasant, but ok. I'll go back to work tomorrow.
Vertigo is the feeling that you or your environment is moving when no movement occurs. Imprecisely called dizziness, the term vertigo is the specific term used to describe an illusion of movement. Unlike nonspecific lightheadedness or dizziness, vertigo has relatively few causes.
Vertigo Symptoms
Vertigo implies that there is a sensation of motion either of the person or the environment. This should not be confused with symptoms of lightheadedness or fainting.
- To determine if true vertigo exists, you must describe a sensation of disorientation or motion. In addition, you may also have any or all of these symptoms:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Sweating
- Abnormal eye movements
- Nausea or vomiting
- The duration can be from minutes to hours and can be constant or episodic. The onset may be due to movement or change in position.
- You may have hearing loss and a ringing sensation in your ears.
- You might have visual disturbances, weakness, difficulty speaking, decreased level of consciousness, and difficulty walking.
I knew I can be a dizzy broad sometimes, but this is very annoying!
