Job Hunting

No, I didn't lose my job.  Yes, I still love slinging chemo and my patients.  But, that hunky guy that lives almost 4 hours away is getting more and more hard to live without during the week.  I am very discouraged, tho.  Williamsburg has virtually nothing, and the surrounding hospitals all seem to be hiring in psychiatry, which is a loooooong way from oncology.  Well, most of the time.  I have now started searching in a 50 mile diameter, and there is a little more to choose from, but, yikes!  50 miles to and from work every day!  Makes you want to retire.  My central point is Williamsburg, VA.  I have checked out most of the penninsula, now am going to start looking in Richmond.  Blah!  The things we do for love!  Oh, that sounds like a song......

Sooooo, I can do anything for a while.  If anybody has any ideas, let me know.  Hmmm, maybe I could go work in Colonial Williamsburg as a .....dunno, but it might be fun.

100 mile commute everyday? Man that'd be a spirit-killer & life-drainer. At least 2 hours everyday on the road,(if your freeways & roads aren't clogged), multiply that X 5 to find the weekly total of hours of your life you'll never get back. If it was me I'd probably wind up in the news in some road rage story. I consider myself laid back & easy going but something about rush-hour traffic drives me nuts. I say be patient and wait a little for something to open up closer because everything I've heard says experienced nurses like you are always hire-able.

http://www.vawc.virginia.gov/jobbanks/joblist.asp?session=jobsearch&geo=... Just click the 'narrow your search' button and put in whatever...I put it a general 'health care' and found 59 positions in Williamsburg. Good luck :)
