Shared on Tue, 01/05/2010 - 07:07I had two calls on my voice mail when I got home from work last night. Both were the same, from my brothers, telling me that my sister, Jeanie, had passed away. Not totally unexpected, but a bit of a surprise, anyways. She had been in a nursing home with my other sister (same room, even!) until she died last year. Jeanie was devastated and I don't think she ever recovered from her loss. With Mom and Dad both gone, and now her sis, too, I believed it was only a matter of time. They are all together now in a happy place. I have a visual of them that is comforting. I hope it is true.
I AM NOT HERE
Don't stand by my grave and weep,
For I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint of snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning, hush.
For I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circle flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand by my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die.
Hopi Grief Song/Prayer
Jeanie was everyone's favorite. I will miss her.
